6 basic workout tips for home exercise

Don’t have enough time to work out at the gym? Exercise at home instead. The gym isn’t the only place where you can be healthy. If you want to start the journey of becoming fit, you can easily begin at home.

Working out at home may limit the exercises you can do, but it has its benefits. For starters, you can save up on gym membership fees. Second, you won’t have to leave your house. As a result, you can save time and spend most of it at home instead. Working out at home is perfect for the busy individual!

If you want to start your workout regimen at home, here are a few basic tips.

1. Warm up before you begin

Are you a beginner when it comes to exercising? Your body may not be adjusted to rigorous training yet, so it’s important to warm up before training. This is to elongate the muscles and prepare the entire body for exercise. If you don’t properly warm up before training, you might get injured in the process!

Start with basic warm-up exercises such as backpedalling, jumping jacks, lunges, squats, and walking knee hugs. Engage in these exercises for 20 to 30 seconds each. Warm up until you feel your body is prepared for actual training.

2. Start with the basics

Not all exercises require advanced machinery and equipment! When you’re at home, you can try a few basic exercises to get things going. Try the traditional push-up; it’s a timeless exercise that you can modify by changing hand placements and positions. How about the plank? Planks are perfect for creating strong abs.

Find out which beginner exercises suit your plan and stick with them. Consistency is key when it comes to achieving strength and endurance!

3. Turn it into a habit

Now that your home is also your training location, there should be no excuse for you to skip on working out! Make it a habit by being committed to your scheduled workout sessions. Being committed can go a long way if you wish to stay healthy.

4. Rest when needed

Your body is not a machine that can work forever. Muscles grow at rest so make time to rest and let those muscles repair! Listen to your body, and schedule rest days into your training routine.

5. Diet is essential

The best part about working out at home? Having an endless amount of food at your disposal. The bad news about it? Being tempted to eat a lot of food in the process.

Before you start working out, plan your diet and list down the types of food you should be eating. Take out unnecessary junk food out of your house to make sure you won’t be tempted into eating food you shouldn’t eat. Having snacks is fine every now and then, but ensure that the bulk of your calories come from whole, nutritious foods.

6. Hire a personal coach

Having a tough time working out? Consider hiring a fitness instructor in Singapore instead. A personal trainer can provide you with expert knowledge on how to be fit. Their expertise in the field of fitness will allow you to have better insight into training. They can also carefully observe your training and determine which exercises are suitable for you at this point in time.
